Bright Future
It has emerged that Westmeath County Council are bringing a new strategic link road for Athlone and Mullingar via Ballymahon. The move has the potential to establish Ballymahon as a commuter town to three of the leading centres in the Midlands. The road will be a valuable addition to the town, especially as the population of the midlands is due to grow by 56,000 in the next 15 years.
Moreover, the move could have major growth implications for the Inny side town and it could certainly enhance the value of properties in the area.
The road has been at the discussion stage for many years now and recently the Westmeath Council finally opted to select the Ballymahon route in preference to a road that ran via Moyvore.
No matter how self-sufficient we are determined to be as we get older we can all do with a little extra help and support.
But that is no reason to abandon your independence.
